How to maximize space in a small place

When you have a small space, one of the first things you want to do is to make it look bigger. There are many ways to achieve this;

Paint – painting your walls white will give the illusion of a bigger room.

Accent wall – painting the far wall of the room a solid color can make the room seem longer.

Furniture – choosing the right furniture for a small space can be daunting; full-size furniture is recommended most sofa’s come in different sizes. Sectionals are also great for small spaces; you can arrange the pieces around the room to create the illusion of more space.  

Pictures and artwork – hanging pictures and artwork an inch above eye level will give the appearance of a bigger room. Mixing big and small frames will make the wall seem larger.

Mirrors – hanging a mirror in a small room will give the appearance of more space. You can use one big mirror or several small ones placed around the room.

Bring the outdoors in – if you own your home, or you are able to renovate, replace a window with sliding glass doors. This not only gives you more space, it also brings the outdoors into your room.

When you have a small space, using different methods to increase the space is important; you do not want your friends and family to feel cramped or claustrophobic. Using these methods will allow you to create a warm and inviting space.
